Farm to School Program - "Gardening with Kids"

North Powder's Farm to School program originated from an initial grant from the Oregon Department of Agriculture, which helped to establish the garden and provide the tools needed. The idea was to connect students with the food they eat through planting, harvesting and consuming the results through the school lunch program.  Now in its second year, the school garden has become an outdoor classroom, providing the opportunity to integrate lessons in science, math, reading, environmental studies, nutrition, and health.  Members of the community have also been involved in setting up "taste tables" with various forms of the product, so the entire student body has the opportunity to sample product in various forms.
