Activities

Throughout the past year, OSSA:

• Selected the 2007 OSSA Teacher of the Year;
• Honored four small school districts with an Award of Excellence for their outstanding progress in improving the education of students;
• Sponsored the annual Small Schools Breakfast at the Oregon School Boards Association Fall Convention in Portland;
• Published three issues of SMALL TALK, a newsletter containing news items, activities, ideas and successful practices of interest to educators;
• Worked with COSA, NWREL and OSBA to support and promote small schools;
• Partnered with WOU to sponsor the Oregon Educators' Institute and Mentor Academy, June 18-21, 2007 on the Western Oregon University campus.
• Worked cooperatively with COSA and OSBA to sponsor the Small Schools Summit in Salem;
• Maintained a web site listing staff development opportunities and vacancies in small schools; and
• Provided pertinent information to school districts regarding Legislative changes, TSPC proposed rule changes and ODE proposed administrative rule changes
